Gradall Forklift Parts - Throughout the period when WWII created a scarcity of workers, the famous Gradall excavator was established in the 1940s as the creation of two brothers Ray and Koop Ferwerda. The brothers faced the problems of a depleted workforce due to the war. As partners in their Cleveland, Ohio construction business known as Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda they lacked the existing laborers to perform the delicate job of grading and finishing on their highway projects. The Ferwerda brothers opted to build an equipment which will save their company by making the slope grading job easier, more efficient and less manual.
The very first excavator prototype consisted of a device with two industrial beams on a rotating platform fixed to a used truck. There was a telescopic cylinder that was used to move the beams backward and forward. This enabled the fixed blade at the far end of the beams to push or pull the dirt. Before long enhancing the initial design, the brothers made a triangular boom to add more strength. What's more, they added a tilt cylinder which let the boom turn 45 degrees in either direction. A cylinder was placed at the rear of the boom, powering a long push rod to enable the equipment to be equipped with either a bucket or a blade attachment.
The year 1992 marked a momentous year for Gradall with their introduction of XL Series hydraulics, the most remarkable change in the company's excavators ever since their creation. These top-of-the-line hydraulics systems enabled Gradall excavators to deliver comparable power and high productivity on a realistic level to traditional excavators. The XL Series put an end to the first Gradall equipment power drawn from gear pumps and low pressure hydraulics. These conventional systems effectively handled finishing work and grading but had a hard time competing for high productivity tasks.
The new XL Series Gradall excavators proved a significant increase in their digging and lifting ability. These models were manufactured with a piston pump, high-pressure hydraulics system that showed great improvements in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was likewise developed along with a load-sensing capability. Traditional excavators use an operator to choose a working-mode; where the Gradall system could automatically adjust the hydraulic power intended for the work at hand. This makes the operator's general work easier and also conserves fuel at the same time.
As soon as their XL Series hydraulics became available, Gradall was basically thrust into the highly competitive market of equipment designed to deal with demolition, pavement removal, excavating as well as different industrial jobs. Marketability was further improved with their telescoping boom because of its exclusive ability to work in low overhead areas and to better position attachments.
